🖼️ $43K/MO CREATING PET PORTRAITS
There’s a standout Etsy shop, ModPaws, that is capturing the hearts of dog lovers with its unique offering: custom pet portraits.
This small business has carved a niche for itself, generating an estimated $43,000 a month in revenue, from just one item in their store by blending art with the deep emotional bonds people share with their pets.
We got the estimate from Everbee, a tool that helps you find and analyze well performing products on Etsy.
What seems to set ModPaws apart from the hundreds of other shops is its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
The shop guarantees satisfaction, offering a full refund if customers are not content with the initial proof of their portrait.
This dedication is reflected in their stellar customer reviews, with one buyer noting…
"The portrait captured my dog's spirit perfectly. The process was easy, and the team was incredibly responsive. A five-star experience!"
This level of service, including proofs sent within 24 hours and unlimited revisions, ensures that each portrait is a true reflection of the pet's personality.

A lot of these items are purchased as gifts.
On the surface, this business seems incredibly easy to replicate, especially given the capabilities of AI. The tough part is getting the visibility and social proof (positive reviews) to make people want to buy from you.
You could make your operation even more lean by only offering digital prints, so no shipping or frames necessary.

🔥 THE HOT DOGS OF TIKTOK
In case you didn't know, TikTok is popular.
Ok everybody with an internet connection knows that, but double in case, here are some eye popping stats on the social media platform:

23% of internet users use TikTok
Americans 18 and over are estimated to spend 55.8 minutes per day on the platform

And with popularity comes content about dogs of course!
So we did some digging to find who some of the top dog-fluencers are that you should check out if you have the time (both human and canine).

🩻 PUPPY REGROWS JAW
Sometimes you realize how amazing the body (human or dog) can be.
That was our reaction when we came across the story of Tyson, a French Bulldog puppy who spontaneously regrew his jawbone after part of it was removed due to a cancerous tumor.

Tyson the Frenchie
Um, what!?

Our jaws when we came across this story
Tyson was only 3 months old when he was first diagnosed at Cornell University's vet college with an aggressive type of skin cancer.
Since the cancer hadn't yet spread anywhere else, vets decided the best course was to remove the left jaw to ensure they got all the cancer.
When he went in 8 weeks later they were shocked to find that the jaw had started to regrow!

Jaw removal to new growth
Apparently this has happened before in children, but there are no documented cases of this happening with dogs.
This of course prompted a lot of questions and hypotheses on what exactly had cause this to happen.
Vets believe three components led to Tyson's miraculous regrowth:
They caught the tumor very early on - Tyson was scheduled for a cleft palate surgery, during which they were able to identify the cancer, that likely wouldn't have been caught for a while.
They only removed part of the jaw - Had they removed a larger part, the vets doubt that there would have been much if any growth.
Vets were able to preserve a lot of the periosteum - this is a thin membrane that covers bone. It contains blood vessels, nerves, and cells, and is what helps heal bones when damaged.
Now it wasn't a full replacement. There still were no teeth or some of the blood vessels that would normally run through the jaw, but the structure was most regained.
That will help with proper development as Tyson grows.
This also doesn't mean that we've now cracked the code on regrowing bones, but it is a useful data point to help inform future surgeries and research.
So overall it's a win, and a small step in hopefully a brighter future for dog health.
And c'mon, is there a cuter patient?
